1. What Lifespend is

Lifespend is a personal finance visualisation tool. You upload bank statements, we parse them in your browser, categorise merchant names using AI, and display spending insights expressed in life-hours. It is not financial advice.

2. Your data

• Your PDF is parsed locally in your browser — the raw file is never uploaded to our servers.
• Only merchant names (not amounts, balances, account numbers, or personal details) are sent to Google Gemini for categorisation.
• Categorised transactions (date, merchant, amount, category) are stored in our database so your dashboard persists between sessions.
• We do not sell, share, or monetise your data. Ever.
• You can delete your account and all data at any time from Settings → Data → Delete Account.

3. Free tier & Pro

Lifespend offers a free tier with core features and an optional Pro subscription. Pro is billed monthly or annually. You can cancel anytime — access continues until the end of the billing period. No refunds on partial periods, but if something goes wrong contact us and we will sort it out.

4. Acceptable use

• Use Lifespend for your own personal finances only — not on behalf of a business or third party without their consent.
• Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service.
• Do not upload statements that belong to someone else without their permission.

5. Accuracy

Transaction categorisation is automated and imperfect. Amounts and dates are extracted from your statement but may occasionally contain errors. Always cross-reference with your bank for financial decisions. Lifespend is a visualisation tool, not an accountant.

6. Availability

We aim for high uptime but cannot guarantee it. We may update, pause, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. We will not delete your data without notifying you first.

7. Liability

Lifespend is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by Australian law, we are not liable for any financial decisions made based on the app's output. Your statutory consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law are not affected by these terms.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes will be handled in Queensland courts.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are material, we will notify you by email or in-app banner. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
